STAND THROUGH THE STORM. Yesterday, later afternoon, there was a storm that came through, enough so much that it knocked the power out and I believed that a tornado was going to hit. It didn’t, but the storm affected many people. Later that evening on my way home from an birthday party ( Jayne Mercado-Duty) ..
The storm began to pick back up, this time there were massive amounts of thunder and lighting. Lighting that literally seemed to strike the ground with each bolt. I asked God what is it that I need to know about this storm, all I heard was stand through the storm. While I knew what that meant, I didn’t quite understand it in the full context.
When things begin to crumble around us, we tend to forget what this means and by forgetting what this means, we sometimes get distressed, confused and hopeless. Again I heard stand through the storm, so I pulled into a church parking lot and pointed my car towards the storm, my intention was to just reflect on this for a moment
I decided to use my camera phone to record video of this intense lightning.I’ve never truly done this before.I’m sure what I usually do and what most people do is seek to get out of the storm as quick as possible. But at that moment I didn’t have that desire.Within a few minutes a truck pulled up near my car and they faced their car to the storm as well and just sat there
I’m thinking, what is it that I need to know about this storm. By this car pulling up, it was a sign that God would always be there even in the midst of what seems to be intense and emotional. It also meant that many people are going through a storm and many times, there isn’t anyone there that they can talk with or even count on, but he is
The storm continued and I decided to go home, but there was still something about this storm that wouldn’t let my spirit settle. I go in the house and stand in the kitchen for a moment and heard go outside. A big sighhhh. Ok I said. I opened up the patio door and walk out onto the deck, but stood under the over hang of the house
As the lighting crackled through the sky, I still felt like I was missing something. I heard, walk to the edge of the deck, so I did. At this point it’s raining and its lighting and the thunder is major. I’m standing there with no hat, not umbrella, wet. The first thought was that God is mighty.
In the midst of the storm and after a few minutes I closed my eyes. I began to feel a swelling of emotion, I began to cry. God said, now compare the storm your standing in, to the storm that is standing in you. Which one feels more intense, which one will you carry with you from day to day.
In closing…. LIVE LIFE LOVED and spread the greatest thing there is to spread, LOVE, and with that comes many other things.
