Hunter Chronicles D365

We all do it!

HCD365We all do it and have been told not to. Funny thing is, when faced with opposition, it has become a common term of defense. I ‘m sure this isn’t new news and I’m going to “assume” you’ve heard this…You know what happens when you “Assume.” You make an a– out of you and me.

I believe assumptions are apart of life. It can possibly be described as a form of expectation. We are taught to assume many things in our youthful days, why do you think we do it. We tend to not do things that we haven’t been taught or that we haven’t learned.

In math, the teacher says, solve this problem, using the following “given information.” This basicly means to assume the information is correct and sustaining enough to make a good or solid guess in order to resolve the answer/assumption (given information).

What is missed?

The flip-side that is often dismissed or not considered is that within every assumption, there also becomes things that we fail to assumed that distract from the resolving the information accurately. I “assume” you have also heard a person say, “at least give me the benefit of the doubt.”

Example: Kelly lives with 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Given the former information how many siblings does Kelly have? 7 brothers and sisters, correct, based on given information.
The information that was withheld, was that Kelly is 3 years old and she has 2 older brothers that have already moved into their own homes. Kelly, in fact has 9 siblings, but you didn’t know because that piece of the information wasn’t provided to you when you assumed the information’s accuracy.

What does this mean?It means that assumptions are apart of life and how we process information. It’s our responsibility to take the assumption as only a preface to the underlying information. If we don’t seek the accuracy, then we will only assume. In a court of law, assumptions hold no weight, but yet outside the courts, assumptions can rule our lives and even slow down our progression.

This doesn’t mean to stop assuming, but it does mean don’t stop with an assumption and rule the rest of the information irrelevant.
