Dear God, what is it that I should have stored in my heart. I believe that if we are told to store it, then it means that we will need it sometime in the near or far future.
If this was a physical thing, then I would store water in my shelter…but that doesn’t lend assistance to the spiritual. I would have to say, that things such as love, should be stored in the heart. Forgiveness should be stored in the heart. The understanding of your mercy and grace should be stored in the heart. I would think that even the sound of your voice should be stored in my heart. Memories of overcoming trials, should be stored there.
God.. I don’t want to be a hoarder of the things that are not necessary. I find it interesting that in this scripture below, it speaks about the tablet of your heart… Proverbs 7:3 Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
Reading that reminded me of the ten commandments which were written on tablets of stone. So I looked up the base definition of the word tablet and found this: A slab or plaque, as of stone or ivory, with a surface that is intended for or bears an inscription.
My final thoughts are that, it seems, whatever is written on the heart, is meant to last and stand the test of time. The tablet is not made of a perishable substance. Whatever we write on our own hearts tablets, should be good and reflective of what is from above.
In the time of trouble, this tablet may be our map out of danger and a quick guide that helps us sustain our sanity and firm foot-hold.
